There are no ‘secrets’ to summer lawn care. There are tried and tested measures that abide in the industry. As experienced landscapers, we know it’s vital to tailor your lawn care based on seasonal changes. This post will outline your best practises.
Seasonal extremes, including record rainfall or drought, can have a devastating impact on your lawn. Little or no intervention, may result in irreperable harm. Conversely, too much aeration, hydration and footfall can be damaging too.
How Low Should I Mow?
Altering your mowers height is a seasonal concern. Many landscapers recommend a mowing height of around 2.5 inches through the year. However, the summer is an exception. Mowing too low can scorch the earth and lead to bare patches emerging. For this reason, we’d recommend raising the height of your mower a notch. 3 to 3.5 inches should suffice.
How Often Should I Water My Lawn?
Watering your lawn will vary depending on rainfall. In the height of summer, we’d recommend watering your lawn every other day. Take time to spot check your lawn every week. Bare patches or discolouration are a sign you should apply more water.
