The tools you’ll need may include a wheelbarrow, gloves a turf knife and some some boards. With this in hand, let’s begin by preparing the ground.

Prepare The Ground

The foundation to a health lawn begins with evenly dispersed soil, free of large stones and rich in essential nutrients. Raking the ground level can be deceptively difficult. Some lawns have a natural gradient. In this event, leveling the ground may mean raking toward an even and consistent gradient rather than reshaping the landscape. Generally, however, leveling the ground is a process of evening out bumps and divots.

Laying Turf

Turf is a vigorous and hardwearing material. Various grades can be sustained through heavy rainfall and drought. For turf to thrive and endure, it needs be fitted with necessary care and patience. Once delivered it’s best laid immediately (although this can be done within 24 hours) ensuring the edges are parallel and firmly tucked in. Position planks as you labour from one roll to the next. This enables roots to become established.

Lawn Care

At this stage you should have prepared the ground and unrolled a new lawn. Before your lawn becomes established, however, it will need a bit of help. Applying adequate water to your lawn is crucial. You should immediately after your lawn is laid and every morning for at least 7 days thereafter. When the roots have become established after 2 weeks, you can mow your new lawn and hose as needed.
